The KeyShot Colorway Design Challenge Winners Are…

by | Dec 14, 2023 | 0 comments

When we announced the KeyShot Colorway Design Challenge a few weeks ago, we had no idea that nearly 200 of you would send in submissions. And they were some INCREDIBLE renderings! As we pored over a veritable rainbow of delightfully creative visuals, we were reminded of the insane amount of talent that exists in the KeyShot community. Well done to ALL of you!

The Judging Process

Selecting the top three was challenging. The judges were KeyShot Creative Specialist Saskia Fallia, Senior Industrial Design and Creative Specialist Karim Merchant and Product Manager Jan Simon.

New Color Features in KeyShot

We were excited to bring you a bunch of new color workflow features last month. Color can now be managed as its own asset, and the new Color Mode lets you focus on your color libraries, colorways and the (also newly introduced) multi-colors. We’ve also added support for Coloro and Natural Color Systems, updated PANTONE matching and updated RAL colors, color profile detection and automatic color optimizing. Here’s how to use the new features.

Gold Prize: Tommy Cheong

The judges admired the composition of this rendering, which utilized colorful divisions to communicate the color differences. They were impressed that colorways were used in different parts of both the geometry and background. See Tommy’s Insta

Silver Prize: Lidia Gómez

The judges enjoyed the clean, simple composition with pops of color, plus the renderings drenched in terra cotta, alabaster, pale silver, combu green and arsenic blue. See Lidia’s Insta

Bronze Prize: Bradley Brister

“I love the framing of the shot and the environment,” judge Jan said. “While not directly a requirement of the challenge, it really highlights the different colorways very well. The shot is arranged really nicely. Gives IKEA vibes.” The judges also appreciated how the chosen colors worked with the aesthetic, colorful but not overly vibrant. Bradley noted that the KeyShot’s new Color Mode “made it super simple to set up a few different options and quickly test which worked best in the scene.” Bradley’s Insta

Honorable Mention: Frank Brunetti

Not only did Frank include a fun video with his submission, he also worked in the 2024 Pantone Color of the Year, Peach Fuzz, for an extra clever touch. (Frank’s talent is no secret to all of us here at KeyShot; he’s also featured in our Artist Gallery.) Frank’s Insta

Honorable Mention: Tejas Mitra

Tejas created a short KeyShot animation in addition to an array of rainbow-colored shades. Tejas’s Insta
